Petro Design Co. is a boutique design studio located in Del Mar, California. Established in 2001, by Peter Miserlis, Petro Design Co. specializes in creating cohesive corporate identity, print, and websites solutions for a variety of clientele. During the dot com era and the years that followed, Peter worked in the roles as a Creative Lead and User Interface Manager. It was during this time that Peter started taking on design projects for a select group of clients. As the demand for services grew, it became necessary to devote complete attention to establishing a design studio where one can receive custom services. Focusing on innovative design solutions and personal attention to meet client's web, print, and identity needs.

TEAM BIOS

PETER MISERLIS

Soon after graduating in 1994 from California State University, Chico, with a degree in Communication Design and Graphic Design emphasis, Peter worked for a local broadcasting company in their design department. After high-tailing it back down the 5 to San Diego, Peter landed a job at a "dot com" as a Creative Lead, managing all website, user interface, and corporate identity efforts. After the thrill of working during the "dot com" days, Peter took his skills of building user-friendly web-based applications to MedImpact Healthcare Systems where he worked as their User Interface Design Manager. There he collaborated with project managers and software developers, implementing a best practices UI methodology to shape the front-end and functionality of their web-based applications.

Peter Miserlis is a designer who focuses on web development and creative identity solutions. He practices traditional design strategies and merges them with the new media design challenges of today. Peter is also famously know for coining the term, "split reflective".

Peter has collaborated with with other top creative firms such as Randle Design, Idea Integration, 2 Plus 2 Partners, Volan Design, Kirwin Communications, and Big Bang Design.

When Peter isn't working on client projects, he likes to spend time with his wife and two kids. He also enjoys family snowboarding and fishing trips to Big Bear, collecting lowbrow contemporary art, the English Premier League, playing soccer, running, hiking, and biking.

JOSHUA P. SANDSTROM (Josh)

Josh studied Communication Design with a Graphic Design Emphasis at California State University Chico and graduated in 1994 in the same class as Peter. He also started out his career at a local broadcasting company in their design department, but the real adventure happened with a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada. There he landed a job working for one of the largest casino gaming companies designing custom graphics that were used on the faces of high-profile award-winning slot machines. Josh's designs would lure them in, then turn major profits for the casinos. Josh soon became the Art Director and managed a team of designers that not only created gaming display graphics, but also all print and conference materials for the company.

Josh's old school approach to graphic design and traditional illustration skills add a fresh twist to today's design challenges and solutions.

When Josh isn't tearing it up on a Macintosh keyboard, he enjoys spending time with his wife and cats. Josh also enjoys hiking, fishing, and has a passion for camping. He has a specialty for finding the best free Wi-Fi accessable camping spots in the country, so he can continue to follow his beloved Giants when he is not in town.

COMMUNITY WORK

A key element of Petro Design Co. is giving back to the community. We currently partner with two Non-Profit agencies in San Diego County. These partnerships are working with The Center for Community Solutions (CCS) and Kids' Turn San Diego. The mission of CCS is to help heal and prevent sexual assault and relationship violence for men, women and children. Kids' Turn San Diego provides prevention and intervention programs that help the whole family successfully transition after major family upheavals. Support is offered to families coping with issues related to divorce, separation, legal actions, military deployments and changes in custody arrangements.
